Similar to the custom download tabs on Facebook created in bug 733195 for Firefox Beta and Firefox Aurora, we'd like to create a download tab for Firefox. Requirements: - 810px wide, max of 794px high. Okay is height is less, but should be at least 400px. - Download button must be above the fold - Due: 6/28 I recommend using a similar layout to bug 733195 or the mozilla.org/firefox/new page to minimize the amount of design cycles needed.
Assigning this to Ty. Thanks in advance!

William I'm sure you're all over this.. but please be sure to incorporate custom tracking URLs / links to measure performance of the page.

Hello there, I also wanted to chime in here with a request that would help maximize the earned media we generate from this tab. Can we add "LIKE" and "INVITE FRIENDS or SHARE" buttons in: a) after a user begins to download in a separate light box. This would be more of a guided user flow that will prompt the user with a message like. Thanks! While you wait for your download to complete, like us and invite other users to download Firefox, the good/safe/secure browser. (we would need to get this userflow approved by Security/QA) AND/OR b) a LIKE and Invite Friends/Share buttons underneath a large Download button. Additionally, can we have a tab icon that looks like a download button for the FB page. This would be right underneath the Timeline cover and would link to the Tab. I would make it look very similar to our Green Download buttons with the Firefox logo. Dimensions are 111x74 (infographic to help you with dimensions and placement attached). Feel free to call or email with any questions too. jmontano@mozilla.com 786.877.0012 Will we be producing this in different languages? I would love to have this in at least English, Spanish and Portuguese first. We're also doing some FB download campaigns in German and Indonesian. Again, feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
I reused the 1st two points from the current FFx download page. The third point is new and might not be the best option for this page though. Thoughts?
Thanks Ty - this looks great! As mentioned in comment 3, we also need an 111x74 thumbnail for the custom tab and this graphic would look like a download button (okay to include 'Download' and arrow in the graphic). You can see where this would appear on the main page in comment 4. Jesse, would you like to have Facebook 'Like' and 'Share' buttons added below the two download buttons? Can you provide any assets for Ty to use? Thanks!
Hey Ty! Looks nice. We're running some campaigns and have some useful information about what is performing very well. Right now the best page from the 2 we've tested (Download VS Features) is the Download page with the following 3 attributes pointed out: Proudly non-profit | Innovating for you | Fast, flexible, secure I'm wondering if that would be a stronger, direct message than the "tried & true" line. Also to note is that the strongest ads are the ones that feature the words "Download" and surprisingly the word "New". I think The New factor is something that is compelling enoough that can help convert. Can you add that somewhere in there? For example, instead of using the word re-designed, it may be more consumer friendly to use the word New and move that up closer to the top? Also, one of the biggest advantages to having a download FB tab is increasing the virality/earned media by adding Like (as in Liking Firefox on FB) and Share (as in Share or invite a friend to download the new Firefox) buttons. Thoughts? JM
ping, William/Jess: what is the status here? please advise.
Feedback: The button "Share the open web" doesn't seem very actionable and the general audience users may have no idea what that means. Can it be something like "Share Firefox with your friends"? https://www.allizom.org/b/en-US/facebookapps/downloadtab/noscroll/

Please note we went live Friday May 3: https://www.facebook.com/Firefox/app_152684894884181 It's not one of the primary tabs but we plan to make sure that analytics are set up and we plan on testing a media campaign this month. Keep you posted.

Jesse: There is actually a problem with the URL that you are using on Facebook. This URL has the /b/ URL in it meaning that no one added a /b/ redirect since Bedrock and php are still living side by side. https://www.mozilla.org/b/en-US/facebookapps/downloadtab/noscroll/ Who did you work with on the webprod side to get this launched? We need to get the /b/ redirect in Bedrock and then you would need to adjust the URL post-redirect-change to point it to the correct URL.

Also, the download tab is missing the GA call onClick for the button so that conversions can be tracked. This is how we are doing it on /firefox/new/ and I would recommend the same method and that includes the 500ms delay to allow GA to finish. https://github.com/mozilla/bedrock/blob/f418e775799d2732a065499d243e5c358f787e0a/media/js/firefox/new-a.js Where should I put these dev bugs?
Hey Chris, I just shared this with our Dev team. Where most of the devs conversation around this project have been happening are here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=835506

Ok, so if the design is done and this is in dev, can I close this out?
I would say it is ok to do so. Thanks Tara.
Thanks, Jesse! Will comment in the dev bug.
