I have implemented http://schema.org/SoftwareApplication on mozilla.jp but it has no effect for Google SERP. It should still be worth implemented though. http://www.mozilla.jp/firefox/ http://www.mozilla.jp/firefox/android/ http://www.mozilla.jp/thunderbird/
Severity: normal → enhancement

(In reply to Kohei Yoshino [:kohei] from comment #1) > I have implemented http://schema.org/SoftwareApplication on mozilla.jp but > it has no effect for Google SERP. It should still be worth implemented > though. > > http://www.mozilla.jp/firefox/ > http://www.mozilla.jp/firefox/android/ > http://www.mozilla.jp/thunderbird/ How do you know Google ignores it? It is possible that mozilla.jp is just to much of a narrow focus that the JP-only website is already positioned very well. The worldwide mozilla.org site could possibly have some benefit to using it, but I do agree it probably won't be massive. We are ranked near 1 or 1.1 on average for most of the top keywords. I think doing at least the basics on the Firefox desktop download page would still be worth it.

(In reply to Chris More [:cmore] from comment #2) > How do you know Google ignores it? Because I have never seen rich snippets for those pages on Google SERPs, while the Structured Data Testing Tool shows some snippets: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?q=www.mozilla.jp/firefox/ https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?q=www.mozilla.jp/firefox/android/ https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?q=www.mozilla.jp/thunderbird/ My guess is that Google reflects http://schema.org/SoftwareApplication only from application marketplaces, like Google Play, iTunes App Store or AMO. Also, it seems that reviews are required to show the rich snippets on Google SERPs. https://www.google.com/search?q=site:play.google.com/store/apps/details https://www.google.com/search?q=site:itunes.apple.com/us/app/ https://www.google.com/search?q=site:addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ (In reply to Chris More [:cmore] from comment #3) > Kohei: Can we add the basic meta data title, description, image to > /firefox/new? Okay, maybe we can have both http://schema.org/SoftwareApplication and http://schema.org/Product.
