We need to clarify the licensing status of the code mentioned here:
http://tedwvc.wordpress.com/2012/03/11/how-to-get-visual-c-2012-vc-11-beta-statically-linked-crt-and-mfc-applications-to-run-on-windows-xp/
which is stored here:
https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=1b361bf333e9ab82
as "xpsupport109.zip".
Currently, it has no licensing information attached. The author seems happy for it to be widely used, so we just need to ask him to state that explicitly.

I've left a comment on the blog asking the author to contact me. I searched around but couldn't find any contact information, or enough personally identifying info (he has a very common name) to track him down some other way.

The author writes:
"My next version 1.10 is now complete and has been updated to include the MIT license. I haven't put this up yet but will do so in a couple weeks - shortly before the release of RTM VC2012."

Given that Visual Studio 2012 Update 1 now supports XP out of the box if you pass the right options, isn't this workaround code no longer necessary?
