Description

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; FreeBSD i386; rv:12.0) Gecko/20120613 Firefox/12.0 SeaMonkey/2.9.1
Build ID: 20120613065107

Steps to reproduce:

soon I use the right mouse button as in activating spell checking, the whole seamoney windows freezes. Still I can click the windows close button which shows Terminate Application Pop-UP. This Porblem appeared immedietly after upgrade to 2.9.1, the forme version 2.9 had not such a problem. I got some help from FreeBSD committers, recompiled dozens of dependencies without any success. The problem happens in Email and browser window. Without using the right mouse click I can use it normally. Same problem with Firefox 13.0. Any ideas?

Try safe mode: Help->Restart with Addons Disabled. If it affects both Firefox and SeaMonkey it might be something to do with your system libraries. You mentioned spell check. What version of Hunspell are you compiling against?

thanks for your fast response, disabling addons does not help, it freezes also when using restart the option you mentioned but I disabled one by one without success

I have aspell, ispell and hunspell on my system but in Seamonkey I am using 3 Dictionaries from SM Extensions respository

the windowws freezes on any right mouse click, spell checking was an example, mark folder read for example and instantly the windows freeze

the FreeBSD committer suspected something with pcre libs, meanwhile I have recompiled all dependencies without any success

You probably need to open a ticket with FreeBSD.

According to conversation here - http://www.mail-archive.com/freebsd-gecko@freebsd.org/msg01536.html problem somewhere in core code. The only question - do you experiencing problem in both ff 13.0,1 and ff esr 10.0.5,1 or only in first one?

I had no so problem with seamonkey 2.9, it appeared after upgrade to 2.9.1_1, version numbers according to freebsd's ports collection
I compiled once more later the same version due to png upgrade and some lib correction with no success

I have opened a ticket at fbsd bugs and there was a comment that some do not experience this problem when running fluxbox as win manager ( http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=169241 )

I just made another test and running gnome on the same machine/installation with 2.9.1 and the problem is not appearing (so far)

so it seems to be kde4 related on freebsd

Well:
1. 2.9x is now unsupported. No changes, no bugfixes, no nothing.
2. Only difference between 2.9 and 2.9.1 are security fixes.
3. Please retest with SeaMonkey 2.10.1 or 2.11b5

For some reasons, FreeBSD maintainers doesn't provide "native" 2.10.1 version, only linux-seamonkey port, so I'm waiting for 2.11 release to see, what would they do...

thanks for updating

I already checked the linux port, unfortunately it is crashing very fast, so no way to use it

I will try to compile from svn source, if I can make it work I come back with the outcome

I could figure it out to compile the 2.10 version here on my computer and so far this problem seems to have disappeared

Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; FreeBSD i386; rv:13.0) Gecko/20120718 Firefox/13.0.1 SeaMonkey/2.10.1

hopefully it is gone also when the freebsd port appears

thanks for your help
