User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0 Build ID: 20120601045813 Steps to reproduce: As one example, I type "example" (sans quotes) in the Firefox address bar and press Ctrl+Enter. Before the latest upgrade, this used to make the browser open http://www.example.com in the same tab. Actual results: But after the last upgrade (to version 13), the browser opens a new tab and starts a search for the word "example" using the default search engine. Expected results: I'd prefer the previous behavior, that is, attaching "http://www." and ".com" around the typed word and open that URL. All other browsers do that. Or if that is not possible, what is the new keyboard shortcut that can be used to do that? Firefox should have informed the user of the new shortcut after the upgrade.

I tried to update to the version 13.0.1 but the update failed. Thanks for your response. Still not working for me. Could someone point me to the about:config entry to be modified, if any? Or some change in some INI setting file or something? Which setting controls the Ctrl+Enter behavior? (Preferably without an add-on.) Thank you.
Could you try in safe mode (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_Safe_Mode) then with a new Firefox profile (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles)?
Given a choice between trying out each of the add-ons separately and just manually typing ".com" at the end of a word, I'd prefer the second approach because the cumulative time wasted on it even over months would be smaller (and with much less hassle) than the tests you suggested. But that's just my analysis for my particular case. Thanks for your input. I still look out for the particular setting (in about:config or some INI file) that controls the Ctrl+Enter behavior. Can anyone here please guide? Thanks.
If you don't want to troubleshoot so don't ask help. Especially when basic troubleshooting like starting Firefox in safe mode or creating a new profile takes less than 5 min to do. And about your issue, set about:config > keyword.URL = false http://kb.mozillazine.org/Keyword.URL
bugzilla is not the support and we don't provide help or answer questions. Please use http://support.mozilla.com if you need enduser support Thanks

Just a quick explanation. @Loic The problem is, when it works in a new profile or in the safe mode (as it most probably will because it's working for you and others), I'll need to customize it from the beginning and to install all the add-ons again, one-by-one, and check for each if it causes the problem again. You see, it takes long and is much hassle. Well, the fix provided doesn't work, nor the related browser.fixup.alternate ones which I found by searching for the provided entry (keyboad.URL). Anyway thanks for the effort. I appreciate that. @Matthias I get what you want to say. Immediately after the upgrade, the shortcut started working differently and I think this does classify as a bug. So I reported here so someone could take a look if that's the case with more people. But since nobody on here is having this problem, looks like something is awry on my side. Thanks for the input.
