Seeing this pretty consistently on our Linux 64 Mozmill machines:

Based on when we first started seeing this failure, and what kind of commits went into comm-central, I'm going to go out on a limb here and wager that mozilla-central broke us.
Oh, also note that we're only seeing this on *debug* builds so far.

This patch allows us to side-step the weird menu-opening bugs we see sometimes by triggering the menupopup's "onpopupshowing" function manually.
