The current IRC icon in Thunderbird really doesn't make me think of IRC. :) The two bubbles [1] is also confusingly similar to the "three bubbles" icon used to represent a chat in general.

Unfortunately there's no "official" IRC icon (and most of the ones out there I haven't been a fan of). But something a bit different here seems like it would be beneficial.

Maybe a speech bubble with a "#" inside? That's the closest I can think of to an IRC-like symbol.

I agree that that's probably the closest we're going to get. I think we should run with that!
Sounds good to me! Icon coming.
Component: Instant Messaging → IRC
Product: Thunderbird → Chat Core
Version: Trunk → trunk

Alex -- do you have any thoughts here? If we have no idea what would look "more IRC" I suggest we just close this.

I'm currently going through the rebuild of the account setup, which will unify and include the chat account creation dialog.
I will take care of updating those icons if needed.
We can close this bug

That sounds great, thank you!
