Originally reported at http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=2495225 When you pair with a mobile device via Firefox Sync, a new "Mobile Bookmarks" folder is created in the desktop Firefox bookmarks. It is then impossible to delete this folder, even if you disconnect from sync and delete all of the folder's contents. Is there a way we can fix this without introducing too much risk of data loss or duplication? After disconnecting from sync, can we change this from a root to a normal folder or something? (Would it be tricky to change it back if the user re-connects to Sync?) Note: I'm not sure whether this bug should go in Toolkit, Services, or Firefox. Please feel free to reassign it as needed.

The Library left pane folder is marked as read-only, so it doesn't (on purpose) allow to remove its contents, since the user could do something really bad there... we may eventually do the removal on maintenance?

I just found out how to do it: if you delete all of your bookmarks in the mobile bookmarks folder, this folder vanishes automatically! Therefore I suggest to close this bug. Remark1: Another option would be, for the sake of a better user experience, to add a context menu entry for the mobile bookmarks folder labelled "delete all (mobile) bookmarks". Remark2: I did not to have to stop the sync first, it just worked. I do not know, if I still have a mobile device registered in my sync account since there is no way to manage devices, not even on https://account.services.mozilla.com/, but it is a while ago that I used mobile firefox. If someone still has a mobile device connected and mobile firefox installed this person might have to stop syncing the mobile device before. (Firefox 18.0.2 / Windows 7)

I'm going to close this bug; I think deleting all mobile bookmarks is a reasonable way to remove the "Mobile Bookmarks" folder from the UI.

The folder does *not* disappear for me on Firefox Beta 38.0.5 when deleting all bookmarks inside it.
Can you please reopen the bug. On 54.0.1 64-Bit and some versions earlier the folder is fix in my bookmarks. Even I never used Firefox Sync for years. Thanks. Martin
