Details

Build: 04/19 bidi build
OS: RH6.2-J

When trying to send out mail, an error occurs.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Launch browser.
2. Set up Mail/News account. Please notice that SMTP default setting has
selected "When available" for "Use secure connection (SSL)"
3. Click on New Msg to bring up mail compose window.
4. Fill up recipient email address and enter something in the subject and mail
body, then click on Send icon.
You'll get alert window saying that "Sending of message failed" and the mail is
not sent out.
5. At Mail/News account setup for SMTP, after you change setting to "Never" for
SSL, you can send out mails.
Summary: Unable to send out mails with default SMTP setting for SSL. → [BiDi]Unable to send out mails with default SMTP setting for SSL.
dup of bug # 74387?
It could be. But 2001-04-19-05 mozilla build can send out mails with same
default SMTP settings.
yes, but this build is based on April 18 and there it was a problem
I heard that this bidi build is based on 04/19 mozilla build.
Which build is this bidi build based on?
bug #74387 is still open, there is a workaround though, you have to set your
SMTP/SSL settings to "never" and watch if the user name is not "null". With
those settings mail gets sent out fine
Actually you don't need to change the user name. Changing the SSL setting to
"Never" is good enough to send out mails, even with "null" for the user name.
sometimes you get an error message " Send message failed" and the "null" is at
fault
I didn't get this error again once I changed the SSL setting.
This IBMBIDI build was created from sources checked out in the morning of 4/19.
you might encounter different situation Copy/ Forward when because of username
set to "null" mail doesn't get sent... Anyways the fact that changing settings
to "never" help means that what you're seeing is bug # 74387
This happens on both bidi and non-bidi build that Erik has delivered to us on
04/24. Resolved it as a dup of bug 74387.
