RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 487498

People

(Reporter: RossBoylan, Unassigned)

Details

(Whiteboard: dupme)

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0.1
Build ID: 20120614114901

Steps to reproduce:

I was connected via SSL (port 993) to a host with a self-signed, expired certificate.
I setup port forwarding (via ssh in cygwin) and changed the account to use localhost with the mapped port 9933. I hit OK. A dialogue box came up saying that the certificate was no good because it was expired and had the wrong name. I think I hit view certificate. Then I hit "confirm security exception."

Environment: t-bird 13.0.1 build 20120614161456; 32 bit Windows 7; Symantec endpoint protection 12.1; newly installed cygwin using an ssh tunnel.

There are a bunch of similar bugs (searching on certificate exception), though they mostly seem to be in Firefox.

Actual results:

The security dialogue came right back up. Repeated attempts, as well as hitting cancel, did not dismiss it. Eventually I hit the close icon on the window. I think it took several tries, but the window eventually went away.

I am not sure if it is now using the tunnel or not. tools | account settings | server settings shows server name localhost, port 9933. But the help | troubleshooting page shows the name as (imap) biostat.ucsf.edu:9933 which is the remote host name and the local port.

Expected results:

When I confirmed the exception it should have moved on, connecting to the site (biostat.ucsf.edu).
