This is a report from SUMO with more than one user saying that live bookmarks are empty after updating to v14, see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/930847 for the details and screenshots. There is also mention of Sync in the post.
For background, what happened to me was:

Firefox 13.01 installed on desktop (Win 7 x64)
Firefox 10? installed on Android phone
Around one hundred live bookmarks
Sync set up on both, with everything enabled except addons

After upgrading to Firefox 14 on my Android device, the next time I opened Firefox on my desktop all of my live bookmarks were replaced with empty folders with the names of the live bookmarks.
