My thoughts are this otoro phone has the ICS binaries that were flashed onto the phone first. As a result, The phone never actually finds the service provider. In status bar shows "Searching" forever. It's also not possible to send or receive calls.

I did test this on another otoro phone with GB binaries, and the SIM card detected the service provider just fine (used "T-Mobile")

Environment:
- 7/5/2012 - otoro built from trunk - git commit 533fcc12fd0f84cd589d4b9e89205f6201941a2ce

Logcat: https://gist.github.com/3056913

Repro:
1) Reboot the phone.
2) While it is booting up, ensure that service provider name (and bars of coverage) appear in the top status bar.
3) Try to make a call out.

Expected
- Service provider name and bars of coverage appear in the top status bar Calling out should work normally..

Actual
- Neither appear. Phone remains in "searching" mode forever. It's not possible to call out (or in) to the phone. Calling dialog, when attempting to initiate calls, shows "Unknown carrier".
Works for me. You probably have a bad build.

1. Reflash the phone back to android ics.
2. Delete the out and backup-otoro directories.
3. ./config.sh otoro (do not use ANDROIDFS_DIR)
4. Build and flash as usual.
Ok, we'll try this. Can we reflash to ics using NANDL utility?
Ok, it seems we can. Once android is restored to the device, it recognizes the SIM card. Trying to figure out where this is breaking in the actual build - will come back soon.
When I follow mwu's instructions there, I end up with a device that boots only to grey screen. Not sure, could it be related to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=771922 ?
Blocking. Michael, is there any other information that John can provide you with to unblock them here?
