User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:13.0) Gecko/20120615 Firefox/13.0.1 SeaMonkey/2.10.1
Build ID: 20120615050029
Steps to reproduce:
I downloaded 2.10.1 on Kubuntu 12.04. Installed it and found that the vertical and horizontal scrollbar thumbs are not drawn at all. They are invisible, but they do work!
Actual results:
The scroll bar thumb is invisible. There is no contrast to help see the scroll bar thumb.
Expected results:
The scroll bar thumb should be visible.

I am using the current Oxygen theme and GTK + appearance is using widget style Oxygen-gtk. I have changed the GTK+ appearance widget style to Radiance and the scroll bar thumb appears. The problem then is with GTK+ appearance widget style Oxygen-gtk!

Does the same problem happen with Firefox 13.0.1?
http://digitizor.com/2009/09/20/a-complete-guide-to-firefox-integration-in-kubuntu/
[
1 Install GTK Styles and Fonts. To do this open the Konole and run this command: sudo apt-get install gtk-qt-engine.
2 Open GTK Styles and Fonts from KRunner (Alt+F2 to bring up the KRunner) or from Kickoff -> Computer -> System Settings -> Style -> GTK Styles and Fonts.
3 Under GTK Styles, enable the "Use my KDE style in GTK applications" radio button.
4 Under GTK Fonts, enable the radio button for "Use my KDE fonts in GTK applications".
5 Under Firefox and Thunderbird, click on the "Install scrollbar fix..." button.
6 Click on "Apply" and "Ok".
]
I think step 5 is the one you're looking for.
http://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthread.php?44058-Fix-annoying-scroll-bar-in-Firefox
[
"Assuming you are using the new GTK+ Appearance theme QtCurve settings..."
"System Settings -> Appearance -> Widget Style -> QtCurve -> Configure... Sliders and Scrollbars... Under "Groove appearance", uncheck "Thin"."
Now the Firefox scrollbars should look less weird (ie normal). Be sure to change your widget style back to Oxygen before leaving the dialog. Or discard the changes... it will still keep the QtCurve settings change I believe since you "Ok"ed them in the previous menu..."

No, it does not have the same effect on Firefox 13.0.1. Under Oxygen theme and oxygen-gtk style widgets it shows the scroll bar thumb with adequate contrast.

I don't know what happened, but a plain looking low contrast scroll bar thumb has now appeared! But when you try to grab it, the thumb disappears!
When I applied this command 1 Install GTK Styles and Fonts. To do this open the Konole and run this command: sudo apt-get install gtk-qt-engine.
this happened:-
sudo apt-get install gtk-qt-engine
[sudo] password for ningbojoe:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package gtk-qt-engine is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source.

I think for further help you might want to ask in the KDE forums.

A SeaMonkey user on KDE has written a guide to debugging GTK UI rendering in KDE4.
<https://wiki.mozilla.org/SeaMonkey/KDE/Debugging_GTK_UI_rendering_in_KDE4>
FWIW, I'm running Kubuntu 12.04 amd64 and have seen the scroll bar thumb fine for the last seven versions of Kubuntu. I'm also using System Settings > Application Appearance > GTK+ Appearance > Widget style: oxygen-gtk. However, I am using the 64-bit SeaMonkey (my user agent contains Linux x86_64, not Linux i686), there's usually a link to it in each release under a "Contributed builds" section. If you want to use 32-bit SeaMonkey, maybe you need a 32-bit version of the theming package(s), e.g. gtk2-engines-oxygen (i386).
