RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 737841

People

(Reporter: siriushoward, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0.1
Build ID: 20120614114901

Steps to reproduce:

Actual results:

Modern sites often return "helpful" 404 pages with contents. eg. firefox.com/aaaaa
Firefox save these 404 pages in browser history and suggest them in awesomebar autocomplete.

Expected results:

I know you can manually delete these 404 entries from the browser history or from the awesomebar. But they shouldn't enter the browser history in the first place.
Summary: Do not save pages with 404 header saved in history → Do not save pages with 404 header in history
they are no more suggested in the location bar after bug 737841, though people still wants to see them in history based on various discussions, since the page may not be permanently on error, and the fact it is may be important. Btw duping.
