Steps to reproduce:

Tried to launch the Debugger under Tools -> Web Developer menu.

I'm running Nightly 16.0a1 (2012-07-11) on Ubuntu 12.04


Actual results:

There is a quick flash of a panel at the bottom of the browser window, which immediately disappears. There is an error in the console:

OK, can you try restarting firefox with add-ons disabled (from the help menu)? Does the debugger open then? If so, can you try enabling add-ons one at a time, in order to pinpoint the problematic one?

By the way, you can safely delete the Tilt add-on. It has been incorporated into the Firefox developer tools (and improved some).

Nightly restarted in safe mode, all add-ons disabled. No change, same error.

You could go to about:config, enable devtools.debugger.log, restart the browser, reproduce the issue and post the log output. Note that this appears in the terminal, so you should start the browser from the command line.

Also, could you maybe post a screencast of the bug? It might give me some clues.

Okay, done. The only output in the console is:
DBG-SERVER: Cleaning up connection.

As of the 2012-07-12 nightly update, I'm not seeing that flash of a panel anymore. Now there's no visible effect besides the aforementioned error showing up in the Error Console. I tried doing a screencast at 30fps and stepped through every frame, but there's nothing to see.

I recorded a screencap at 60fps, and this panel pops up for maybe 2-3 frames before it disappears and the error message shows up in the Error Console.

Perhaps I should have been more clear on this, but the log output I'm looking for will be in the terminal (stdout), not the error console.

That is all I get. In the screen shot, you can see I have the terminal and the error console open. Neither shows anything yet, because that all happens a few frames later.

On the off chance this is helpful, I do get one other message in stdout, but it happens when Nightly launches, not when I try to run the Debugger:

I haven't seen this issue after bug 771655, so I'm going to close this bug. Feel free to reopen if you can still reproduce it.
