Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Firefox/17.0
Build ID: 20120719030543
Steps to reproduce:
I often use autocomplete in the url bar to go to sites by full url. For example:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/ instead of http://blogs.msdn.com/
or
http://www.dilbert.com/fast instead of http://www.dilbert.com/
Actual results:
The new autocomplete doesn't display the url that I go to as the autocomplete choice, no matter how frequently I go to that url. For example, I never want to go to http://www.dilbert.com/ instead of http://www.dilbert.com/fast. But now I have to tab or search through the alternative choices to go to the url I want.
Expected results:
Most common url choice is the autocomplete choice. The base url (ie. http://www.dilbert.com/) is the second choice, but bubbles up to the top choice if frequently selected.

I suppose you are talking about autofill feature that automatically types the remaining part of the url.
The one you described is actually the wanted behavior, you can type a part of the domain, press right and continue, like "dil", right, "f".
Otherwise you can keep choosing the first entry in the dropdown, that will likely be the entry you are looking for.
autFilling the root works fine for most cases, there is clearly some case where it won't help, that's where the dropdown is still precious.
