Description

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:14.0) Gecko/20120715 Firefox/14.0.1 SeaMonkey/2.11
Build ID: 20120715041107

Steps to reproduce:

I have been through all the steps on the Java Testing Page, downloading the same installation programs, only to have Java undetected. I am running SeaMonkey 2.11 on Windows Home Premium 64-Bit. Also, on the normal user thread, my thread also included problems with Flash Player. After a few days moderators ignored the thread.

Actual results:

When I originally started the thread, I had updated Flash Player. Afterward, because of the slowness of both Firefox and SeaMonkey, I ran them without addons. I cannot keep running them that way, so I sought to reinstall Java. It does not appear on the addons page. After troubleshooting, the Java site does not detect it.

Expected results:

Java should have been installed and detected so that it shows animation.

Which Java version you try to install? Use this - http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=66210

When you open the about:addons tab, make sure you have the "Plugins" tab selected.
Is Java listed there?
If so is it enabled or disabled?

The Java Test Site tries to install jxpiinstall. In accordance with your thread I just downloaded jre-6u33-windows-i586. It was not detected after installation by either SeaMonkey's addons page or the Java Test Page. When a page in SeaMonkey tries to install an addon, it tries to install Java Runtime Environment 1.7 u4. Other installers I have are JavaSetup7u5 and jre-7u5-windows-x64.

IIUC, java is a plugin, and that plugin is different for IE and for everything else.

Does it work in any of Firefox, Chrome, Opera, or indeed any browser /other/ than Internet Explorer? (and also other than an IE skin, including the "IE Tab" extension on a Mozilla browser)

I have the Java Control Panel open right now and it reads Java 7 Standard Edition Version 7 Update Five. In Control Panel, Programs, I have Java(TM) 6 Update 33, Java(TM) 7 Update 5, Java(TM) 7 Update 5 (64-bit) and JavaFX 2.1.1. Yes, it does work in IE8; but I have had to run Firefox without addons. Just now I opened Firefox. Under plugins I have Java(TM) Deployment Toolkit showing two numbers: 7.0.50.255 and 10.5.1.255. Then, also disabled, I have Java(TM) Platform SE7 U5 10.5.1.255. Incidentally, I will have to start another thread. Windows often closes SeaMonkey Mail & Newsgroups, causing me to log into it again. Sometimes it closes even during the login.

I should have mentioned that I have Java in IE8 but I run Firefox without addons.
