77815 - Crash when reselecting a message with ivy.gif attached

Build 2001-04-25-08: Mac 9.04

Overview: A crash eventually occurs after clicking between a plain message and a
message that has ivy.gif attached.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a message with ivy.gif attached
2. Send/receive the message
3. Select the message with the attached ivy.gif file (1st time)
4. Select a plain message
5. Select the message with the attached ivy.gif file (2nd time)
6. Select a plain message
7. Select the message with the attached ivy.gif file (3rd time)
8. Select a plain message

Actual Results: The application hangs and I have to force a quit. Unfortunately
talkback does not appear.

Expected Results: Switching between a basic message and another message with
ivy.gif should not hang the application.

Additional Information:
- WinME: OK, no crash.
- Mac 9.04: With another gif file such as Earth.gif is OK, no crash

Can you get a stack trace for this?

I just a attached a 2nd log file. This time I had to select the ivy.gif file 10
times before the application froze.

yikes!

nbaca, can you try this:

load the ivy.gif in the browser (from your hard drive as a file url) and shift
reload a bunch of times.

do you get the same hang?

Are you using IMAP? If so, gordon has a bug with the cache and imglib having a
race condition. That is bug 76661. This sounds like a dup of that.

- Using the browser I reloaded the image 20 times, no crash.
- Using a different profile with an imap account, reproduced the crash.
- Using a different profile with a pop account, no crash.

Since it appears to be a problem with IMAP accounts, maybe it should be a dupe
of bug# 76661, Seth?
