The IMAP subsystem seems to be sending IMAP packets containing NOOP on a regular
basis which keeps my on-demand dialing connected perpetually. I would like an
option to turn these off if at all possible!
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Open the IMAP window and sniff away, wait about 5 to 10 minutes.
Expected Results: Give me an option to turn off the NOOP keep alive packets.

As an IMAP server admin, I'd like to request that this NOOPing be removed, or at
the least, disabled by default. I've already had to hack my FTP daemon to kick
off people sitting on it for days NOOPing cause they forget to close their FTP
client. IMAP reconnection is not that expensive. Please let admins decide when
to disconnect inactive users.

It also looks like the trend for keeping the IMAP connection doesn't let the
server update the folder status. I have a mail checker running on my Linux
machine and it reports unread messages until I close Mozilla ( I mean Mozilla
altogether, not just mail! ). This doesn't happend with other IMAP mail readers
such as StarOffice or Outlook Express (run with VMWare).
I suppose, Mozilla mail should close IMAP session after it updates a folder or
commit changes somehow rather than keep the session open.
BTW, I am not sure, these NOOPs are the cause for my case, so if not, let me
know, so I will open a new bug report.
