steps to reproduce bug, go to the query page on bugzilla, highlight all fields in each column, to make the query as broad as possible. Submit your query. If your lucky enough, after 15 minutes top will show you something like this PID USER PRI NI SIZE RSS SHARE STAT %CPU %MEM TIME COMMAND 16958 robert 15 0 288M 83M 12900 R 2.6 53.6 8:54 mozilla-bin 16960 robert 9 0 288M 83M 12900 S 0.0 53.6 0:00 mozilla-bin 16961 robert 9 0 288M 83M 12900 S 0.0 53.6 0:07 mozilla-bin 16962 robert 9 0 288M 83M 12900 S 0.0 53.6 0:00 mozilla-bin 16963 robert 9 0 288M 83M 12900 S 0.0 53.6 0:00 mozilla-bin 853 root 14 0 50856 26M 5876 S 2.1 16.7 82:56 X Dont try this on system with less than 128 megs ram or you may never be heard from again. If any of you linux hackers out there are bored tomorrow and need something to keep you busy, mind looking into this strangeness exhibited by mozilla ?
Reporter what build id are you using?

2001042906, on linux of course.. but i've had this happen with previous builds as well, life sucks sometimes, owell.
So is the problem the fact that Mozilla uses 288M of ram to display the resulting page? What do other browsers use? What does Moz use on Windows?
whoops, my windows 4/29-08 mozilla timed out on this query 229MB VM, 102MB physical, 11 minutes [~45s kernel time]. A second attempt, 11mins, ~160mb phys ram, 480mb VM, page does not appear done. i'm sure asa doesn't want this bug.

Netscape 4.75 on Linux uses 180M of ram showing that page, btw. Setting status to new. Mozilla wasn't fitting in 600M of ram (all the space I could give it at the time). OS=all due to timeless' windows testing.

eventually i got the same timeout error.
Summary: mozilla on linux has a few, rather trvial, memory problems → mozilla has a few, rather trvial, memory problems
loading bugs#>75000: 17mb ram, 38mb vm 15s [nc4.76w32] 49mb ram, 42mb vm 50s [moz 4/29-08]
I think that reporting a bug on mozilla because it takes a long time and a lot of memory to do a query for every bug in Bugzilla demonstrates a highly refined state of irony. Bravo. By the way, another vendor's browser running on a flagship OS can't even load that page without barfing, but that's another story. Let's turn this into something a little more useful though, which is to define a bugzilla query that returns a huge record set, but one that is still within some rational limit (like timeless notes above). To keep the number returned constant, I just queried between two dates to get 3031 bugs returned (url above), which is about a 1.2MB document. waterson: I also added a copy of that query's results to the list of long pages you are loading. Take this bug from me if you want to :-]
