I feel the current location of these buttons is very difficult to find. They are currently in the options overflow menu and on phone sized devices (at least ICS+), they require you to scroll down to find them.

I think we can include these buttons in the tab bar, as exemplified below:

https://bug766389.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=650413

Taken from the following discussions:

Comment 12 in bug 759011 (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=759011#c12) suggested putting a home screen icon in the top bar.

Comment 7 in bug 766389 (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=766389#c7) additionally suggested an "Apps" button. Comment 8 in the same bug (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=766389#c8) added the "Addons" and "Downloads".
Thanks Michael, this is an interesting idea. With the addition of "Quit" this could actually move all the actions not directly related to page content out of the primary menu, which I think could be useful in cleaning up that menu list.

Couple things to consider / explore here:
* How might this work on large tablets, where we have a sidebar tab UI at the moment?
* Where would we put downloaded add-ons that previously had a home in the menu?
* Would this UI change impact the usabilty of switching / adding tabs at all?
Alternately, we could stick to the plan of adding an easy way to get back to about:home (icon in tab menu, or redirecing new tab to about:home) and we could take a similar approach to what desktop does, where links to these sections are actually shown on that page. http://cl.ly/image/00010K113R1m

Just thinking out loud.
