User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_6_8) AppleWebKit/537.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/21.0.1180.75 Safari/537.1 Steps to reproduce: Wrote a valid mail and tried to send it. Actual results: After trying to send the email I got a popup with the following warning msg "Fehler beim Senden der Nachricht: Der Mail-Server hat keine korrekte Begrüßung gesendet: 4.7.1 Please try again later." That warning seems to come because of my mail server. Sometimes I have to try it more often when I am behind a TOR proxy. So far okay but after that Thunderbird discardes my mail! There is no copy in drafts or something like that. No way to get the mail I have written or to try again. Expected results: THunderbird should ask me if I want to try it later and save my mail into drafts and not discard it.
Summary: Draft / mail discarded → New mail / draft will be discarded on server error (imap)
Besids of that the mail is archived in the local "sent folder", even it was not sent.
Component: General → Networking: IMAP
Product: Thunderbird → MailNews Core

windhoek: Is this a duplicate of bug 780124 or can you provide more information on how it is different?
