I have tried Nightlies as far back as April 2012 and they don't work any more either, so presume related to a recent driver update.

On a MSI CX640 with Nvidia Optimus (Nvidia GeForce GT 520M together with Intel i5 - 2410M).
HTML 5 content won't displays, but sound is hearable. It also occurs on some video sites. But youtube works fine.
Due to Optimus i can choose which program runs on Nvidia GPU or on Intels integrated GPU.
If i choose to start latest firefox with Nvidia GPU flash works only sometimes (e.g. youtube). However other flash content won't displays, but might operate in
background as audio is hearable.
This applies even to adobes version check flash here:
http://helpx.adobe.com/de/flash-player.html
Besides this the Hardware Acceleration Check Box within Adobes Flash Player doesn't changes anything in regard to this issue.
Workaround for me is now to always start firefox with integrated GPU, then everything works as it should.
Here are the test cases i tried so far.
Adobe Flash Player is kept untouched and is always 11.4.402.278 for mozilla and co.

My Nvidia drivers mightn ot be the latest from Nvidia, but they are the latest from MSI. (8.17.12.6901_v764) My notebook is from them, so i haven't tried any desktop drivers.

Also happening with Vimeo HTML5 video, which is now the default for Vimeo on Windows/FF. Can collect GPU data if helpful.

I am also getting this issue with Fx 35 (2014-09-02) on a Late 2009 MacBook running Yosemite public beta 2

So I'm not sure if this is a related issue, toggling `media.apple.mp4.enabled` to false "fixes" this issue, i.e. I get video playback again.

Good question. With my current system i can't reproduce the bug anymore. (Besides not all links point to the original video and site content.)
So HTML5 videos play now with Nvidia GPU. Same is true for Videos within Flash Player.
Thus everything looks quite good now.
Currently installed versions:
Adobe Flash: 21.0.0.213
Firefox: 47.0
Nvidia Driver: 8.17.12.6901
