Maybe related to bug 782263 or bug 781274? I just got a new HTC Evo 4G LTE and installed Nightly. For 3 days now, this has happened: * Update notification appears * I tap the notification to download the update * Apply update notification appears * I tap the notification to apply the update * The permissions screen appears, but a thick (~5px) red border appears along with it. * I approve the installation * The red border never goes away, overlaying all applications, unless I reboot the phone. Nightly is the only thing for which the above happens, so far. I googled a bit for vague things like "red border" and "HTC Evo 4G LTE", and the closest I came to something familiar was that a red border might flash when the "Strict mode" developer option is enabled and apps take too much CPU time. But, "Strict mode" is in fact disabled in my settings.

Les, bug 781274 programmatically enabled Strict Mode for Nightly builds. I backed out this change after a few days because it was creating more confusion than value. If you still see the red border after installing tomorrow's Nightly, please reopen this bug and I can investigate.

Yeah, guess I filed this bug too soon. I updated *just now*, and saw no red border. Thanks!

I got this border this morning when upgrading to the latest version. This is on Samsung Galaxy Note. Not sure if I should reopen though since I might have been upgrading from an older version that had this problem?

David, even though you were installing a new (hopefully fixed :) build, I think the old (affected) installer was running (to unpack the new build's package). This is the "baton pass" from the old build to the new one. Have you seen the red border since then? Is your Galaxy Note running ICS?

Thanks Chris, that was what I expected, too. I haven't seen the border since then, so I think we did fix it. :) Yes, running ICS.
