Details

Firefox Mobile 15 beta 6 build 1/ Nightly 17.0a1 2012-08-21
Device: Asus Transformer (Android 4.0.3)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Load planet.mozilla.org
2. Open "Find in page" type "firefo" and advance through a few results to position the view somewhere lower in the page
3. Add a "c" to the search field so the search string is "firefoc"

Expected results:
When the search string does not exist on the page no word is highlighted

Actual results:
No word is highlighted but the view jumps to the top of the page regardless of where the page was positioned before.

Note:
On the stock Android Browser the highlight is just removed but the scroll position is not changed
This sounds working as expected to me.
Ian what is the expected behavior here?

I talked with Ian on IRC and here are the conclusions:

1. ibarlow Xti: Hm, yeah I don't think we should jump to the top. We should maintain the most recent scroll position, and turn off the highlight on the last matched word

A suggestion was that every new search should start from the beginning.
2. ibarlow: I agree with that behaviour, that a new search would start from the top of the page

I guess that all can be fixed through to this bug.
