This effect is much more noticeable in a DEBUG build, so everything is slower. I have an Otoro ICS device. In a DEBUG build, in the browser app, rotating the screen first gives broken, non-rotated rendering, before the rotation eventually takes place. This process can take up to 10 seconds. By 'broken' I mean that before the rotation, the browser view gets resized a first time to a size that has no apparent usefulness, letting a large portion of the screen become black with occasional yellow, seemingly random patterns. This should probably be considered an efficiency problem, as this useless resizing is probably expensive. Also, it can give flicker.

Benoit, is this bad enough that you think it's something for which we should block B2G v1?

This issue definitely seems big enough to block, as it makes screen rotation useless. However, I just made a new B2G build and screen rotation doesn't happen at all now. That should block, too.

Benoit, about the screen rotation doesn't happened at all now, do you find this issue on Otoro? If yes, please help to verify that screen rotation can be performed before device got into sleep. Because there is a issue now for screen rotation failed after device had got into sleep. Thanks.

OK, I see. We just verified that by default, screen rotation does work correctly, i.e. the present bug seems fixed. However, if the device goes to sleep, then screen rotation doesn't work at all anymore. Is there a bug filed for that?
