User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:14.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/14.0.1 Build ID: 20120713134347 Steps to reproduce: Firefox 14.0.1 running under XP ... I have options set to warn me when closing with multiple tabs open ... this does not work ... it will close immediately with any number of tabs open. Actual results: I have tested this in regular mode and with all add-ons disabled ... very annoying to inadvertently lose a number of open tabs. I am going to reboot and test it from a fresh start Rebooted and same thing happens ... Expected results: FF should have warned me that I had multiple tabs open ... it did not. This seems to be very recent behavior.
There is nothing broken. Set about:config > browser.showQuitWarning = true. In addition, you have to choose 'Show my home page' or 'Show a blank page' in Options > General > Startup. Of course, if you choose 'Show my windows and tabs from last time', browser.showQuitWarning = true doesn't work because you forced Firefox to restore your previous session.
Bob, are your tabs restored when Firefox is started again? If yes, see bug 348471 for what Loic said. See also bug 419009 and bug 550559.
