when you update and get the Incompatible Add-on dialog the application icon in the task bar in missing or wrong.

just updated from 17 to 18 using latest nightly

That's actually add-ons manager UI... fixing component.
Component: Application Update → Add-ons Manager

No more legacy add-ons means no more 'incompatible add-on' dialog!
