RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 711475

People

(Reporter: alistair, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:14.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/14.0.1
Build ID: 20120713134347

Steps to reproduce:

Non-Admin users on XP are not being shown the option to trigger an update. The mozilla maintenance service is installed and "use a background service to install updates" is checked but as normal users aren't able to initiate the update process it never gets as far as starting it.

I've tried on two PCs and a virtual machine, and it's not worked properly in any release version of firefox that has this feature.

Actual results:

When a new update is available a link to www.firefox.com is shown in the About box rather than a button to start the update.

Expected results:

The user should be shown the update button to launch the updater using the maintenance service.
