This is unrelated to layers acceleration. Firefox 15 is unaffected.
Forgot to mention the issue is present only the first time a doorhanger notification is opened.
Summary: Doorhanger have a bar at the top → Doorhangers have a bar at the top
Version: 18 Branch → 17 Branch
Which window manager and X server is involved here? Is compositing enabled? Can you try disabling compositing, please?
(I'm not reproducing here with a few days off tip m-c build, kwin, and xorg-server-1.12.2)
X.Org X Server 1.12.99.905 (1.13.0 RC 5) with Compiz. I'm using Ubuntu, I can reproduce only with Unity and not with Gnome Shell or Gnome Classic. So maybe it's a Unity bug.
Probably still worth finding which Mozilla changeset triggered this.
I actually get this in 15 too, but it's quite random on all branches. It actually looks significantly worse with 15 too, because the arrow is larger. I suspect this is caused by something in https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/1:0.9.8+bzr3249-0ubuntu1. In particular, this looks suspicious: - Use the XDamage extension more efficiently (the way it was designed to be used). This dramatically reduces CPU usage, reduces wakeups, and increases frame rates. It also solves at least one observed performance bug (LP: #1007299) and probably several more.
Works fine for me on Ubuntu 12.10 64bit with the 08/01 Firefox 25 and with Firefox 23 beta. Can anyone reproduce this issue with current OS and Firefox versions (23 to 25)?
