User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.8; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0
Build ID: 20120824154833
Steps to reproduce:
Open an email message in a tab and then try to search for text within that email either by clicking command+F or going to 'Edit' and then 'Find' in the menu.
Actual results:
Clicking command+F does nothing and when I go to 'Edit','Find' in the menu the 'Find in this message' option is greyed out. If I open the same email message in a new window however, both options work.
Expected results:
Search box should appear at bottom of window, just as it does when you try and search in an email opened in a new window.

david, can you reproduce this bug in TB Safe Mode?

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for the reply.
If I run TB in safe then I can't replicate the issue.
I've gone through the different extensions I have installed and the offending one is the 'Thunderbird Conversation View' https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/gmail-conversation-view/.
When that's disabled then the the find in message is all fine, but when I enable it I get the issue.
Hope that helps,
David

Jonathan [:protz], per comment 2, your gmail-conversation-view addon breaks "Find in this message" for messages viewed in their own tab... Can you confirm that and add to conversations' issue tracker [1]?

Thanks DavidJ, that helps a lot indeed.
From your comment, we know now that this is not a Thunderbird issue (->invalid), and I've notified the addon author above.

Correct, thanks for the triaging; Ctrl-F is broken with Thunderbird Conversations, and would require me significant effort to make it work (including patching gecko IIRC). I've spent significant nights on this without making any further progress, except for making Thunderbird crash, so...
https://github.com/protz/GMail-Conversation-View/issues/241 has the full details.
Cheers,
jonathan
