Details

This occurs from time to time on release updates, and is now happening on v15. I start receiving numerous email to the Mozilla webmaster stating that "Hooray! Firefox is up to date" appears every time Firefox is launched, along with their normal home page. Of course they now believe Mozilla is pushing ads for Firefox Android, since that is also on the page.

I suggest they check the Home Page and/or Restore to Default, uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox, Reset Preferences, but quite often none of these work.

Is there an about:config setting I can direct them to that stops quickly and easily stops this tab from appearing?

Not sure if this would go under Installer or Preferences component.
startup.homepage_welcome_url can be set to about:home or about:blank or about:newtab or any other normal web address.

Mine is set to http://www.mozilla.com/%LOCALE%/%APP%/%VERSION%/firstrun/ , but that isn't my home page.

Also note, the Hooray! page is opening in addition to their home page, not instead of, so that preference doesn't appear to control that tab opening each time.
