I've been maintaining the mozilla-central mirror on github for a while now. People are using it because they think it's helpful, and it looks like RelEng will not have a comparable solution soon, and they're not interested in just taking my solution and use it. I'm finding it really hard to find the time needed to fix up the repo when things occasionally go wrong with it, so I'm filing this to request someone from IT to take over the maintenance of this repo. Mostly a knowledge of hg and git is required. The conversion is running using hg-git, and it *mostly* works without human intervention. I'm willing to provide details on how it works etc. and also how to move this off of my machine to a place that is more reliable. Thanks!
This is more Releng than IT.

Ehsan, As much as I'd like to help, there is no point duplicating efforts in a case like this. Releng is working on a solution, I don't think anyone in IT will have the time or resources to support 2 solutions for the same problem.
Well, RelEng is currently maintaining a git mirror which excludes the CVS history at mozilla/releases-mozilla-central. That does not address the needs of a lot of developers, so we need one with the CVS history inside it. Now, I have spent a non-trivial amount of time building one, and I have fully documented all of the steps here: <https://github.com/ehsan/mozilla-history-tools/blob/master/initial_conversion/README.md>. When I realized that there is interest in RelEng for supporting git, I told them about my repository and told them that they could use it. They did not think that that's such a great idea and insisted that they need to build their own, which will be *effectively* the exact same thing that I have, but with different sha1's, which makes things more painful for everybody. I tried very hard to convince them that it's not the right choice, but I did not succeed, and I have zero interest in getting on that discussion again. So, here are where the facts are today. RelEng still does not have a repository with full CVS history. I am maintaining one right now, and people are using it. I talked to Vlad about this today and we both think that I am not the best person to continue maintaining it. He suggested that IT might be a better team to take over the maintenance. Do you have any other suggestion for other people who can step up and help? Thanks!
Summary: Request for someone in IT to take over the ownership of github.com/mozilla/mozilla-central → Request for someone in RelEng to take over the ownership of github.com/mozilla/mozilla-central
Changing the summary back to what I requested originally. If RelEng was interested in doing this, they would have just taken my repository and build their solution on top of that.

This isn't sitting in an IT component comment #2 is still correct - there is currently no resources to support this.
Sounds like this is WONTFIX, then.
