User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0.1
Build ID: 20120907231835

Steps to reproduce:

I wrote three letters to Search field: 'e', 'n' and 's'.

Actual results:

After the first two letters the "tooltip" gave only one suggestion: Search Bing for:
After the third letter the "tooltip" gave also three of my friends with email address containing "ens".

Expected results:

No other suggestions than Bing and too many suggestions should be somehow differently shown in the "tooltip"

janiso, small nit. This does not match to the testcase. The testcase at https://litmus.mozilla.org/single_result.cgi?id=604471 specifies
Go to Edit | Find | Search Addresses. Instead, you entered data in the Search Messages field in the main UI.

regardless, your results are more or less expected because gloda will not offer suggestions for finding search terms in messages until you have entered at least 3 characters. I will leave it to others to decide if bug is valid or not.
Summary: lack of suggestions in search field → lack of suggestions in Search Messages field
OK, I tried the wrong way after I did not find the right one. After I noticed that there is no Application Menu anymore in the header bar, I pressed the three stripes button whose tooltip mentions "Displays the Application Menu". There are Edit and Find words but both are inactive (light gray) because focus was on Local Folders. If I choose Inbox, they still are inactive. If I choose a message in Inbox, I can see that Find is active and I can choose Search Messages. Why is it dependent on focus?

Of course I can choose Search Messages... when I right-click the Local Folders or Inbox.
Thanks.
If you still see a problem, please update the bug with steps by step description to reproduce.
