User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0.1 Build ID: 20120905151427 Steps to reproduce: Date: 2012-09-17 Environment: Windows XP Professional SP 3 Japanese edition / Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1 Japanese editon Thunderbird 15 Japanese and Windows edition Occurred rate: 100 % Safe mode : occurred ************************************************** When a user moves a mouse pointer on a title of a received E-mail, the mouse pointer does not change to an I-beam pointer. That is, the mouse pointer keeps the shape of an arrow pointer. So, the user cannot judge whether the mouse pointer is on the letter of the title. For example, a title "About progress of the ABC project" is written on a certain E-mail. A user tries to copy this title. The user moves a mouse pointer to the left side of "About". And the user tries to drag it to the right direction. But, if the mouse pointer was a slightly left position than "About", the title characters cannot select. In the case, the user must replay it. For preventing this trouble, normal software changes an arrow pointer to an I-beam pointer when a mouse pointer is on a letter. But, in only a title of Thunderbird, a mouse pointer does not work well. Actual results: A mouse pointer does not change to an I-beam pointer on a title Expected results: Correctly, a mouse pointer should change to an I-beam pointer on a title.

Summary: Bug : A mouse pointer does not change to an I-beam pointer on a title → mouse pointer does not change to an I-beam pointer (caret) on a title
For what it's worth, I do get a caret for the compose window subject/title in Ubuntu precise and with Thunderbird 17.0.6. This is not a Japanese environmeent, but I am not sure that would be necessary to trigger the bug.
