Picture of update notification and current settings
Firefox downloaded and installed an update without permission. Update settings are set to "Firefox updates: Never check for updates". See attached picture. Firefox 12.0 on the release update channel. So not only did Firefox download and install an update without permission it was also checking for updates without permission. Not very trustworthy if it ignores the user's settings and goes ahead and downloads and installs updates anyway.
