Steps to reproduce:

A context menu option I feel irrelevant is “Set as Desktop Background”. The way the desktop has changed over years, the Gnome Shell, Unity, Windows 8 Metro UI, I doubt this option is relevant anymore. The philosophy of having different random images on the web as a background is strongly discouraged. Most of the images on the web these days are not wallpapers anyway, and I dont see myself setting memes as desktop background. In anycase, images with lower res, which are all over web pages, should not qualify for desktop wallpaper, as they are likely to be Logos, Display Pictures, Icons or symbols. It would be good to clean this feature up too.


Actual results:

Set as Desktop Background occupying unnecessary real estate compared to its usage. It is hardly a relevant option now.

Ah, sorry. I didn't paste the massage. Silly me ;P
I wanna ask about your option about this bug, as you was assigned to bug #1000513 which was about improving context menu.
So maybe it's finally the time remove this old obsolete option.

Bug 1000513 references a future ability to customize the context menus. We may want to leave this functionality in place but make it removed by default and allow people to add it back through the context menu customization.

Until then, it is probably better to not make this change.

So I'm marking this bug as WONTFIX.
Bug about hiding it by default will have new bug when UX guys decide to rearrange context menu.
