Winston reports:
I had a few emails in my inbox from friends this morning who noticed the android animation doesn't look right. See attached. It seems to be sporadic. I was able to duplicate the attached on my machine for a second but then it looked normal again. Until we have an idea of what's going on, I've turned the animation off.

Winston: Can you tell us the version of Firefox you are running? Can you double check with your friends?

Two of us are on 15.0.1.

I haven't been able to reproduce this yet. Clearly the logo is getting the wrong position, but I can't find anything in the code that might misfire to cause that. I'm still working on it but so far I'm stumped.
Since this may take some time to figure out, maybe we can shuffle the dates and put Shop up for the rest of this week with the intent of switching back to Play next week, assuming we've figured out this bug (or decided it's an unfixable fluke).

Are you able to replicate the problem on stage? What if you clear out your localStorage and try again?
Run this in the web console within about:home
localStorage["snippets"] = 0
localStorage['snippets-last-update'] = 0
then refresh.

Will that work even though the snippet is no longer live?

It's still active on stage. With the snippet switcher add-on, set the base_url to https://snippets.stage.mozilla.com and set the name to "Android: Play"

Unfortunately, I've been having trouble with the snippet add-on. It's not displaying for me.

If you're having trouble with the snippet switcher plugin, you can verify/change your settings manually:
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/Projects/Firefox_Start/Snippet_Service#Manually_Updating_Snippet_Source
I tried the animated snippet on stage and it worked fine for me.

I believe these animations were made into snippet templates, and we haven't gotten any further reports of trouble from them. We can reopen if we use them again and they become an issue.
