Description

Hi John,

Per our chat this morning, we are not doing any major updates on the Firefox OS pages right now. We are waiting for the branding to be finalized before we do any major updates to this page.

This initial phase of update will be limited to refining copy and updating the screenshots. (fyi. the updated copy is still TBD)

The new screenshots can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/home/OWD_Moz_share/_Production/Engage
ment/2012.09.05

We might need to update the layout a little bit depending on which screenshots that we use and how we want to present them.

I created a mock-up but I will definitely leave it to the design team to decide and add their creative touches. We can probably keep the design/layout changes minimal for now. (Sorry the mockup is in powerpoint format.)

Timing: Would be great to get the design finalized by the end of the week, so we can implement the changes by next week.

Thanks!

Thanks Grace. Am assigning this to Lee. Lee, please ping me if you have any questions. The timing is definitely tight...we need to hand this off to the web prod team by the end of the week.

Grace, you also mention refining copy...I think it would be a good idea for Matej to take a look at this and edit as needed. Should he work from the text in your mockup (comment #1), and if so do you have that in a more easily editable format? Who wrote that copy? Is there any particular direction he should keep in mind as he's reading?

Hi John,

We are keeping most of the content that is currently in the page: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/b2g/. Lee should be able to work with the current content.

Im just reviewing it now to see if it needs any revision. I'll send any proposed changes to Matej by today or tomorrow.

Thanks!

Sounds good...we'll proceed with updating the imagery only and will leave the copy as is unless we hear otherwise.

Lee, let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Thanks guys - Do we want to continue showing the screenshots without showing them inside of a device?

Comment 6

For now, I would think so.

Personally, I think like them in a device. But I understand that we also have a pretty tight turn around and is probably not a super priority.

Lee, I think whatever looks good (with or without the device).

Thanks!!!!

Is there any additional info/copy we can attach to the screenshots? I placed filler text where I thought the page could use some filling out, since the amount of content is a bit disproportionate to the size of the screenshot images.

Looks great, Lee! I can fill in those captions, I just need a bit of direction as to what they should say.

As for the rest of the copy, there's some capitalization I'd like to fix:

"Open Web" in the subhead should be capitalized.

All the other headings should be in sentence case, though words like "Web" and "OEMs" remain as they are.

Thanks!

Thanks for the copy corrections, Matej.

Grace, is there any direction you can give to Matej for the caption/blurbs for the individual screenshots?

This looks really nice to me, thanks Lee. Grace, please advise about the captions as soon as possible (given that we're trying to wrap this up by EOW).

I don't want to force the captions in there if we don't have anything new to say, though. Lee, is there a plan B if we decide that there's not enough extra content to warrant captions for some/all of the photos at this point?

I agree we shouldn't for anything if it doesn't make sense. I can try to massage those text blocks a bit if we can't come up with anything. Maybe those blocks could work to tell a more informal story about what we're showing - what it could mean for the Average Joe...

Hi Lee,

I love it!!!! It looks great!

Re:Captions
Can we just label the screenshots like homescreen, FM Radio etc?

Although, I think maybe no caption might be better, just because the screenshots are still evolving.

One minor formatting/layout suggestion, the screenshot next to the consumer freedom, should we move it to the left?

Other than that it looks great.

Matej, I also have minor updates on the copy. Working on it now.
Thanks

Sounds like it might be best to nix the captions then.

+1 nix on captions

Thanks!

We could also use the caption areas to say that the screenshots are evolving (if it's meaningful to disclaim) - otherwsise, we'll nix. (just an additional thought)

Also, how are those copy updates coming along? Thanks!

Hi Lee,

Here is the updated copy. We are just updating the two descriptions below.
Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks!

Freedom from proprietary mobile platforms

We're collaborating with OEMs and carriers directly, giving them more influence to meet the specific needs of their users and market. Users and developers aren't locked in to one platform, so they can access their info and use apps across multiple devices.

Consumer freedom

Consumers who use devices powered by Firefox OS won't be locked into one specific platform giving them more choice, flexibility and freedom. With Firefox OS, the Web is the platform.

Grace, any final changes needed?

Looks great!

Matej, one quick question... under the New Web standards..

Should we say... Firefox OS will introduce... (vs The project will introduce...)

Other than that. Everything else looks good!

Thanks Lee, Matej and John!

If everything else is good, let's go ahead and hand over the PSD to the web team...they had asked for it by EOW in order to stay on track for launch next week.

We should be able to resolve that final text question during the coding process.

Lee..PSD?
