Setting "Mark it as Deleted" not only affects what happens when I delete a message, it also switches on/off displaying of deleted messages on (they get shown with a red X in front, and strikethrough text). I have not found any other way to configure the latter setting, but can think of scenarios where even though I have set "Mark it as Deleted", I don't want to see deleted messages, or the other way round. (This might be the underlying problem for other mark-as-deleted related bugs, so maybe a menu item "[x] Show deleted messages" would be really useful) Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686 on x86_64; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Thunderbird/17.0a2 ID:20120918042014

Selecting "Remove it immediately" works the same as "Mark it deleted" except that deleted messages are hidden instead of being "Marked" with red x and strikethrough.
Thomas, is this legit? I'm too fried at the moment to parse this.
Martin (reporter), please follow the correct format for bugs. With thousands of bugs around, your problem will only get attention if it's phrased clearly following the prescribed format. Like this: Steps to reproduce 1. relevant settings, account type etc. 2. click here 3. do that 4. ... (list every step to get to the settings/commands/situation you are referring to) Actual result ... Expected result ... We don't have mindreading modules, and we need to ensure we're talking about exactly the same thing, to understand what you really want.
