(Whiteboard: [waiting on Google Groups])

At the moment, mozilla.education is purely a mailing-list and not a newsgroup. However, the link at https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/education points to the Google newsgroup archive, which is incorrect.

We should either make mozilla.education a newsgroup or provide a correct list to archives.
We should get mozilla.education fixed up. This issue was noted in bug 765169 but because that bug is resolved and a new one was not filed, it must have dropped off the radar.

Let's start with server-ops, who will probably send it to mburns. If it turns out we need to pull in our Google contact, we can. If it turns out it can't be fixed, we can decide what to do then.

This is something of a blocker for me, as I cannot properly announce the return of mozilla.education to potential participants before we (at least) have archives.

This is waiting on Google Groups, who I followed-up with last week after some back-and-forth and they are working to fix their system. It should be resolved this week.

Alternatively, this would be fixed with bug 770423, which is on hold until we can roll custom .rpm's of Mailman in a sane way again. I'll see if we can jostle that project back into gear.

Still no signs of life from Google Groups?
I wish I had better news to report. Google Groups is aware of the status of the newsgroup, and we have requested it be re-enabled in the site. I was given confirmation on nov 20th that it is 'in the system' but the process involves an additional staging before going live, which seems to be where this has gotten stuck in limbo.

I'll ask for an updated status.
This appears to be fixed. Waiting to confirm..
Our two points of contact at Google have not replied to my emails. I just pinged them again. Not sure how to move this forward.
As part of the Q1 projects, lists.mozilla.org will provide its own Archives, similar to mail.mozilla.org does now.

That won't resolve the problem (of a broken Google Groups link), but it will fulfill part of the original request in comment 0.
This is completely out of our hands. I'll ask Michael to contact Google again, but this is out of our purview at this point. Since lists are doing and working, I'm going to close this out for now.

I might have spoke too soon. My follow-up email was responded to after I looped Fox2mike in.

"I was on vacation last week, I'll file a bug to look into this. I think the last stage is still not fully automated at this point, hence why this isn't just working."

hehe, ok, sorry for the bugspam today.

We're going to hold out hope this will work and keep the bug open a bit longer. Thanks for your patience Yoric.

I see a post on the 8th to the newsgroup still has not propagated to Google Groups, yet. There is a bug on Google's side for this, but the final step(s?) are manual..

I've just seen a post show up on mozilla.education! It was spam (I flagged it), but the bits are flowing. Cheers!
