User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:15.0) Gecko/20120827 Firefox/15.0 AvantBrowser/Tri-Core
Build ID: 20120827150924

Steps to reproduce:

Empty the trash folder [of an IMAP account] in Unified Folders, Conversation View on TB 15.0.1.

Actual results:

The trash folder is likely emptied but the message list is not cleared and will show empty entries as many as there were before emptying. The preview pane also is not cleared and showed the last entry selected before emptying the trash folder.

Expected results:

The list and the preview pane should have been cleared.
does this happens without the conversation extension ?
Yes.

I have noted that this happens when:
1) You select the main "Trash" node on the "Unified Folders" view. The highlight moves there.
2) You right-click on the box's name you want to empty. This moves the highlight to the box's name.
3) You click "Empty trash". The highlight moves back to the main "Trash" node and at that point you see the ghost entries.

Clicking the box's name and back to the main "Trash" node will finally clear the list.
Dutch,
Do you still see this problem when using a current version?

Thanks for the update. I can also reproduce. So until someone comments that it is fixed we won't need to update the bug.

Still showing the last displayed message seems to be a cosmetic annoyance, but showing messages with no data in the message list seems to be a bigger problem.
I am really suprised there are not more duplicates

One fallout cosmetic effect is that, after emptying the trash (File/Empty Trash), the "Next" button will cycle through each remaining "ghost" item one by one. Also, didn't see a 'workaround' but one I use is to highlight one of the child (email account) trash folders (or actually highlight anywhere else except the "Trash on Unified Folders") and then, after a second or two, highlight the high-level "Trash on Unified Folders" again - that causes a re-check of any (new) trashed emails and then the ghost list disappears.

Severity: normal → S3

Not clearing message preview pane still reproduces.
But I cannot reproduce comment 10.

Severity: S3 → S4
Summary: Empty Unified Trash folder leaves empty entries in list and does not clear preview → Empty Unified Trash folder does not clear preview

Still an issue with TB115.2.2; that is, message list remains populated after executing Empty (unified) Trash. Click back to (unified) Inbox and the unified trash box 'number ball' indicating unread messages remains. Check Trash in individual accounts, all account Trash folders empty, but number ball still shows beside unified Trash folder. Click on unified Trash folder, the ball disappears and message list shows empty.
