This language needs some or all of its l10n files to be upgraded to the MPL 2 licence. The current status in the aurora repo http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/l10n/mozilla-aurora/ is:

Summary of Licenses in Files
============================
 Number Percent License
------- -------- -----------
    895 91.42% mpl2
     61 6.23% <none found>
     12 1.23% <unknown license>
     11 1.12% mpl/gpl/lgpl (standard block)
----------------------------
    979 files processed

I have a script which can do the relicensing automatically. I will provide a patch here. Once a patch has been provided, please commit it as soon as possible. The aim is to have the relicensing finished by the end of September.

Thanks :-)

I've checked a couple of files (extensions.dtd and extensions.properties) in their original en-US version. They both lack any license.

Since localized files are considered derivative work of the en-US ones, I don't think I can apply license headers to ab-CD files without the license having been previously applied to the corresponding en-US files.

For the record, the L10n tool used in es-ES, MozillaTranslator, copies, in each ab-CD file, the license in the corresponding en-US one. So there are 84 files in en-US waiting to be relicensed.

I'm commenting about this in m.d.l10n.
Hi Ricardo,

I responded to your message. I don't think there's a legal problem here, and I think the best thing to do is probably just to check in the patch. If a few license texts "fall off" later, that's not a massive deal.

Adding Guillermo.

OK, I'll try to apply the patch this evening and report back. Guillermo, we should take a look to the license header field in MozillaTranslator (I'll share the details with you by email), since it might be that we can manually add the license header in each affected file. What I don't know right now is what would happen in MT when the original file is updated.
Applied in Aurora:

Guillermo, please keep in mind we need to update the licenses in central, too. We should try to take a look in detail to this one.
Yep, all looks good - thank you :-) Please feel free to resolve this bug unless you want to keep it open for the central changes.

Eagerly waiting for the email ;)
The licenses have been applied also in central. For reference, the changesets involving files subject to P12n review are these:

http://hg.mozilla.org/l10n-central/es-ES/rev/422cf4ad893a#l15.1
http://hg.mozilla.org/l10n-central/es-ES/rev/80c76c32da02
http://hg.mozilla.org/l10n-central/es-ES/rev/4969aacbc277
http://hg.mozilla.org/l10n-central/es-ES/rev/cfd212ea09be
http://hg.mozilla.org/l10n-central/es-ES/rev/6679fa3fae77

The remaining files have been committed as part of the l10n-central string updates, so closing this bug for good. :-)
