Steps to reproduce: 1. Use POP account. 2. Configure account's server settings to fetch headers only. 3. Try to download the rest of a non-downloaded message and get the warning of the screenshot instead of a warning asking to go online.
Hum what kind of connection do you have with your server ? (eg SSL with certs/ without certs)
Component: Mail Window Front End → Security
The server settings are: Connection security: None Authentication method: Password, transmitted insecurely. In case it wasn't clear in the first place: These settings work fine when I'm online, this only happens when I'm in offline mode.
noop, joe, any ideas

I can replicate in Thunderbird 16.01 and 16.02 linux 32bit and 64bit. The message link is: javascript:showSecuritySection(); Pop account is set to: SSL/TLS port 995, Normal Password I can not replicate in SeaMonkey 2.13.2. In SeaMonkey I get the Alert: This document cannot be displayed while offline. To go online, uncheck Work Offline from the File menu.
NoOp, I can't reproduce this using current daily and account set to port 110. I did 1. Use POP account. 2. Configure account's server settings to fetch headers only. 3. Get mail // Download headers 4. Go offline 5. Try to download the rest of a non-downloaded message I simply see ... Not Downloaded Only the headers for this message were downloaded from the mail server. <Download the rest of the message.> Am I missing steps?

This bug was reported on earlybird 17. I can not reproduce it either on earlybird 20.0a2 anymore. However I think that still there's something weird going on, since I guess there should be a pop up/warning asking to go online again. This time I've only tried the localized build (el) but I don't think it's relevant.
I cannot replicate on TB 17: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:17.0) Gecko/20130801 Thunderbird/17.0.8 I am now getting the correct popup: This document cannot be displayed while offline. To go online, uncheck Work Offline from the File menu. Recommend that this bug be closed.
