From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux 2.2.19 i686; en-US; rv:0.9) Gecko/20010505 BuildID: 2001050521 When importing a bookmark file, previously exported from mozilla the file size of the bookmark file grows for each time mozilla is opend. After inspecting the content of the bookmark file, I found the following: The problem seems to be that multible instances of the same bookmarks in the Personal Toolbar Folder or multible instances of the Personal Toolbar Folder makes mozilla multiply the number of equal bookmarks for each time it is opend. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start mozilla with an empty .mozilla or non-existing directory (on GNU/Linux). 2. Add a number of bookmarks, e.g., IBM and SUN. 3. Export the bookmarks to a file. 4. Exit mozilla. 5. Delete the .mozilla directory and start mozilla again. 6. Import the previously exported bookmark file. 7. Start and exit mozilla a couple of time. Actual Results: For each time you restart mozilla (and it parses the bookmark file), it repeats the duplicate bookmarks over and over again. For each time this happends it multiply the number of equal bookmarks. Expected Results: I'm not sure. May be it should recognized the existance of dublicate bookmarks and ignore them uppon import (and insertion, see bug #10198). This bug may have relation to bug #41502 and bug #10198.
