User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; FreeBSD amd64) AppleWebKit/537.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/21.0.1180.89 Safari/537.1 Steps to reproduce: Create a new Thunderbird Chat account using the IRC type account. Actual results: The default IRC server is irc.freenode.org. Expected results: The default IRC server should be irc.mozilla.org. After all, that's where the mozilla chat happens. Either the default irc server should be changed or mozilla irc should be moved to FreeNode.
Just because Thunderbird is created by Mozilla, I don't think that's where it should point as the majority of users aren't necessarily going to be interested in the mozilla.org channels, and we need to be focussed on the users here. I also don't think it is necessary that the default irc server has Mozilla chat channels - those people interested in Mozilla based channels will find the necessary details very easily.
We selected freenode as the default as it seems to be currently the most popular IRC network. See http://royal.pingdom.com/2012/04/24/irc-is-dead-long-live-irc/ If you think this is wrong, feel free to show us more accurate data :-).
