(Whiteboard: [good first bug])

A contributor helped out with FirefoxOS. I looked him up on mozillians.org and saw that he was unvouched. I thought I should vouch for him, but didn't know what the criteria for that were. It would have been helpful to have an "about vouching" link near the "Vouch" button so I could learn what I was doing. Maybe there is documentation somewhere, but I couldn't find it.

I clicked on the Vouch button assuming that it would take me to a confirmation page that would explain to me what I was doing, and check that I was sure. So I was surprised when it just went ahead and vouched.

I don't think that a confirmation page is necessary, but some docs would help.
There's a couple of ways to do this intuitively; I'll look into it.
Problems to Address:
* Don't know what should entail the act of vouching
* How do you vouch as a user?
* What are the benefits of vouching within the app? What power do you hold as a user with the ability to vouch?

Ideas within the app:
* Set up mozillians.org about:vouching page for un-vouched and vouched
* Homepage notification after being vouched
* Link in notification on un-Vouched profiles to vouching page
* E-mail linking to vouch page

We definitely should either create a page about vouching or simply append to the about page. From a user's perspective, we just need to refine the flows on how to get there.

So, here's my proposal:

* Add a sub-section for Vouching on the about page
* Link to the vouched section in the about page:
** Via a notification on the non-vouched homepage.
** Via a notification on the non-vouched user's profile page.

A short description in the vouch dialog on a profile page is simple and would help a lot.

I suggest appending this text to the paragraph saying "This profile is waiting for approval":
"If you know this person is actively involved with a specific Mozilla functional area, team or project, please vouch for them."

Hi, I am a new contributor and would like to be assigned this bug to fix. How do I get started?

Great, thanks for offering to help Scott! Before you start, let's make sure this bug is ready to work on, since it does depend on bug 926644.

Justin, do you think the work specified in comment 3 can start now or should we wait for all or part of bug 926644 to be fixed first?

I think we should wait for bug 926644 to land before tackling this.

Scott, thanks for your interest in contributing! Please reach out in our IRC channel on irc.mozilla.org, the channel is #commtools. We'd love to help find you another bug to work on.

I think this is now fixed with vouch refactoring. :williamr do you have anything else to suggest?

Looks good to me. Having to provide a reason goes a long way to addressing my concern, and having the About vouching link there is great. I've used the new vouching system three times already and it seems great to me. Nice work!
Bumping to QA verified -- this was test extensibility by the team and has been in the wild and is seeing active use.

Thank you all for a smooth release given the large feature set.
