Details

Currently, images have to conform to a strict set of conditions before being optimised to image layers (as opposed to thebes layers). If I understand correctly, this even includes not supporting tiling (which is the default behaviour of background images).

It would be good if we could ease the pressure from the CPU a bit by decreasing the number of restrictions on using an ImageLayer.

As tiling is the biggest deal and we have multiple items per layer now, I'm closing this as a duplicate.
