User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:10.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.1 Build ID: 20120208060813 Steps to reproduce: 1. Create element (I used a vbox) 2. Set tooltip attribute to a valid tooltip popup 3. Place the element (and several more) in another box 4. Append the box to the DOM 5. Hover over the element Actual results: Nothing Expected results: Tooltip should appear. If the tooltip attribute is set after the box is appended to the DOM then the tooltip works.

Since this bug is a bit old, can you please confirm that this issue is still reproducible on current Firefox builds? If so, could you please provide a standalone testcase so we can reproduce and take action on this?
