+1111!!!! It would be fantastic to turn this into a patch to Playdoh when you're done.
Yeah, working on this currently. Part of it is translating package names back to their pypi names and locking down versions to the appropriate ones.

As far as submitting a patch to playdoh, is this something we want to try to push on the rest of webdev? It is kind of a big change to push out to everyone. I am up for the discussion and getting everyone on the same page but I am not certain we want to try to force our way on all of webdev without a wider discussion first.

Agreed. I just like to start discussions with patches which is why I mentioned it :)

No longer uses submodules at all, 100% requirements based. Build passes on jenkins and travis-ci.
